The Grid is a popular spot in Kolkata with a nice vibe, but it delivers a mixed experience. The veg food is genuinely very good and worth trying, but the non-veg dishes were disappointing and didn’t really match the hype. Portion sizes and presentation are fine, just the taste wasn’t up to the mark for the price. The space inside feels congested, especially when it gets crowded. There’s no proper dance area, which takes away from the party atmosphere. The PA / sound system isn’t great either; music feels flat and doesn’t fill the space the way it should in a pub. Overall, The Grid works if you’re going for veg food and casual drinks, but if you’re looking for a place to dance or enjoy high-energy music, you might want to explore other options nearby. The Grid, Topsia — A Scene in Two Lights There was a time when The Grid stood as a kind of stage — a modern adda of laughter, brass taps, and conversations that drifted like smoke through amber light. To step inside then was to feel the pulse of a city rediscovering its evenings. Tonight, I walked in again — after years perhaps — and found a quieter Grid. The air still warm, the lights still golden, but the buzz softer, the spaces between tables larger than memory. Once, you couldn’t find a square foot to stand on a Friday; now, there’s room to breathe, to observe. I ordered the Babycorn, Chicken Fry, and Fish Finger — simple fare, familiar as an old melody — and they arrived crisp, balanced, perfectly timed. Each bite reminded me that The Grid’s kitchen, even in its quiet, hasn’t lost its rhythm. The 500 ml tumblers of their in-house brews stood tall — cold, honest, full of that slightly bitter truth that only a good beer can tell. The bar itself remains cinematic — metal and glass, polished brass and symmetry. It still glows like a set waiting for its actors to return. Because The Grid was never just a place to drink; it was a mood, a movement that once told Kolkata that its nights could be world-class without losing their Bengali soul. Perhaps the crowd will return. Perhaps this quieter chapter is only an intermission. But as I left, I felt that The Grid — like the city itself — carries its legacy lightly. Still capable of revival, still beautiful in composition, and still waiting for the next scene to begin. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: ₹2,000+
