Just about hunger strikes while cruising along the beautiful ECR, you will be finding Food Club. Located in at a stretch where there is no good place to eat-out. It has always been ECR-Dhaba for me during my cruises along ECR but ECR Dhaba is now getting a lot crowded and is also charging relatively high for their services. To be honest before visiting the "Food Club" me and my buddies entered ECR Dhaba and came out finding that there is no place to accommodate us. On further driving we had a stop at "Food Club".
Car parking is not a problem as it is located very adjacent to the ECR. To folks like me who wish to have a good view of their vehicle and road while munching this is the place. Upon entering i did feel a bit of heat and that should definitely be worked on, Need some good air-conditioning to keep the place cool.
The hospitality is good, we were immediately accommodated and was handed out the Menu by the pleasing staffs. Good range of dishes to choose from and to my surprise the prices are very realistic. Everybody started out with a soup and it did taste perfect.
We then proceeded to order Chicken Briyani, Fried Rice,Chilli Chicken,Gobi Manchurian,Naan. Briyani was not too fabulous but at the same was not horrible either, a neutral taste but could have been made better. Fried Rice and Chilli chicken were perfect. Am definitely not disappointed in visiting this place, will definitely be back and if the cooling and food quality on some of the dishes (Most of the dishes were good) is improved will definitely make this place a must go on my ECR cruises. Hopefully looking forward to make this place my favorite eating spot in the ECR.
It always feels good to be one of the first reviewers for a new eatery. When a long drive down the ECR made me and my friend cry out in hunger, this place looked like a decent restaurant for us to try out. Given below is my review for The Food Club, E.C.R.
PROS:-
* Crocodile park gets a decent amount of crowd even on weekdays. I've been there twice and I've always wanted a good spot to dine after some wildlife action. The pity was that there wasn't any decent place nearby. It's a huge relief that The food club has opened its doors somewhere that needs such a place.
* There is ample space for parking two wheelers and four wheelers on both sides of the road.
* The ambience looks decent. One side of the wall is a giant glass giving us a glimpse of the ever busy E.C.R. Though they've tried to create magic which hasn't been that successful, it was nice to find a colourful wall in the middle of no where. Guess the restaurant's name was inspired from the hollywood flick The Fight Club.
* The service was decent too, the guy was kind enough to recommend us a few dishes.
* We went for a Chicken Biriyani, Egg fried rice and Chilli paneer. The chicken biriyani was seriously awesome and its definitely one of the best ones I've ever had in a restaurant. The fried rice was good too.
* The bill came up to around 450rs, which I felt was really worth.
CONS:-
* Instead of having regular ceiling fans, they had the wall fans that kept swinging. Not what you would like in a hot summer day. They should've just got an Air con or come down to the ceiling fan level.
* As far as the food is concerned, we thoroughly loved it. The only flop show was from the Chilli paneer. We kinda got carried away and ordered something that's rarely ordered, therefore breaking my golden rule of only ordering items that the place is known for or does frequently. To begin with, we asked it to be semi gravy but it was a gravy. The worst part was that the paneer had a lemony zesty flavour which was very off putting.
Overall, it was a good experience dining here and it feels good that there is now a restaurant in the E.C.R that gives decent food that won't burn a whole in our pockets. I strongly recommend this restaurant and the biriyani is a must try here.
