The recipe for success of this restaurant is its mouthwatering bao, shrimp tempura and fried sushi. Place & Ambience - Not a hard place to find inside Kamala Mills, it is a fairly decent sized joint. We went early in the evening so there were hardly anyone there so we could take the unspoilt ambience of the place. It had a modern decor with soft and thankfully not loud music playing. Although despite being a pan asian restaurant, the decor doesn’t scream Asian, not even a whisper.
Service - the service was impeccable. The staff were very courteous, attentive, eager to help and always smiling.
Food & Drinks:- I’ll rate from best to not so best
1) Sakura Sakura - My lovely passion fruit and grape mocktail with julienned green apple. I fell in love with this from the first sip. It was so good I had to order it twice. If you, like me, are tee totalers as well then you have to try this
2) Chargrilled Firecracker Chicken Bao - I was so happy the bun itself was not sweet when I bit into this. At some other places the bun is somewhat sweet (looking at you Wok Express) which ruins the taste. The filling was plenty and tasty. The fresh veggies provided a nice contrast to the spicy chicken as well as provided some needed texture
3) Spicy Chicken and Celery Gyoza - this is a pan fried dim sum which was quite good as well. Although it wasn’t really spicy
4) Fatty Lotus Root - I was intrigued about this and seeing many people recommend this I was curious. It was good but I was expecting something different perhaps. These are thinly sliced lotus root which are crispy due to being fried which are served with veggies and sauce
5) Wild Mushroom and Truffle Oil Dimsums - this was decent. Something different if you wanna try. The texture of it, with the beans, did not sit well with me but it tasted good with sauce
6) Peach Fizzler - felt like I was drinking Mirinda. Do yourselves a favour and order Sakura Sakura
7) Tempura fried soft shell crab sushi - this was not a good dish. The crab was lost in everything, it was barely even crunchy. And we were served without the Bonito Mayonnaise as mentioned in the menu
Anyone wanting to try Asian cuisine, especially authentic dimsums and Bao’s then I highly recommend this place. It is a good place for both family and friends. There were 2 of us and we paid a total of 2800.
