Chicken Yangmey - Rs.180/- The Earthen Restaurant, Madanriting, Shillong Tibetan, Chinese, Indian $$ 27.06.24 Today I was out & about looking for a restaurant named Tuned Tribe in Madanriting, however when I reached the place it seemed to have shut down. So I move on ahead only to see @theearthenrestaurant open. Now it's been months since I've passed here & it's been closed for so long. I got down the car & decided to check out the place. It had a groceries store in the ground floor with stairs leading up to the restaurant. Half of the restaurant still seemed to be under renovation. Anyway a gentleman appeared & informed that the restaurant has just recently reopened. I took a seat next to the window having a view of the Madanriting houses & beyond to the beautiful forests of Mawshbuit. I looked at the menu for anything different & I found a Yangmey. It was under the Tibetan section but nothing of it on Google. So I asked the man & he said it was a less soupy version of a Thukpa. Well that sounded interesting & perfect for the weather. The dish arrived after 15mins. It looked good but rather less. Anyway I'm cutting down on calories in any case. It was a semi gravy noodles with minced chicken, tomatoes, onions & coriander leaves. I took a spoonful & it was actually nice. The noodles were thin & the reduced soupiness gave it so much more flavor. Infact I could get a tiny hint of the Maggi masala on my tastebuds. I'm not sure if such a dish exist since I couldn't find anything on Google, but it sure didn't disappoint either. For the price, a little bigger portion would have been nice. It definitely is tasty.
