If you're in Chennai and craving authentic, no-frills seafood, Sundari Akka Kadai at Marina Beach is a name that comes up time and again—and for good reason. This iconic beachside cart, located near the Marina Swimming Pool (a helpful landmark given the beach's vast stretch), truly lives up to the hype. The seafood here is incredibly fresh and full of flavor. We tried the full fish fry, which was perfectly cooked—tender, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The prawn fry was another highlight, spicy and delicious, although it was served cold, which slightly took away from the experience. Serving it hot would elevate it even further. Do note that there are no formal tables—just stools around the cart—so be ready for a casual, street-style setup. But honestly, the taste makes up for the lack of comfort.
