Spice Kraft has always been one of my favorite places in Kolkata when it comes to good food, cozy ambience, and impeccable service. Every visit feels like a treat for the senses, and this time was no exception. Nestled in the heart of Ballygunge, this restaurant continues to impress with its innovative menu, warm hospitality, and attention to detail that elevates every dining experience. I have always loved visiting this place for the delicious food they serve, and on my recent visit, I decided to explore some of their most talked-about continental delicacies — Baked Fish Wellington, Chicken Stroganoff, and Coq-au-Vin. Each dish reflected the chef’s artistry and passion for cooking, making the meal truly memorable. The Baked Fish Wellington was nothing short of spectacular. A perfectly baked parcel of flaky fish encased in a golden puff pastry, served with a creamy sauce that complemented the delicate flavors beautifully. The fish was moist, tender, and full of flavor, while the pastry had just the right crispness. It was plated so elegantly that it was almost too beautiful to eat — but once you take that first bite, you simply can’t stop. Next came the Chicken Stroganoff, a hearty and comforting dish that hit all the right notes. The chicken pieces were cooked to perfection, enveloped in a rich and creamy mushroom sauce with just the right balance of herbs and seasoning. This classic European dish was done justice to, maintaining authenticity while adding a touch of Spice Kraft’s signature flair. A special mention goes to Rahul, one of the staff members, who recommended this dish — and I must say, it turned out to be my favorite of the evening. His friendly nature, attentive service, and thoughtful suggestion truly added to the overall dining experience. The Coq-au-Vin was another standout. Tender chicken cooked slowly in red wine with mushrooms, onions, and herbs — it was deep, flavorful, and beautifully aromatic. The sauce had a luxurious texture and a depth that spoke of hours of patient cooking. It’s not often that one finds such a well-executed French classic in the city, but Spice Kraft nailed it. To accompany the meal, we tried a few drinks. The Kokum Mocktail was truly extraordinary — refreshing, tangy, and slightly spiced, it was the perfect palate cleanser between the rich dishes. It stood out as the drink of the evening with its unique flavor profile and vibrant presentation. On the other hand, the Virgin Mojito and Fresh Lime Soda were fairly average — refreshing enough but lacking the spark or distinctiveness of the Kokum drink. The ambience of Spice Kraft, as always, added to the experience — cozy lighting, soothing décor, and a relaxed yet classy vibe that makes you want to linger. The staff were attentive, courteous, and quick to serve without being intrusive. Overall, this visit reaffirmed why Spice Kraft remains one of Kolkata’s most loved dining spots. Whether you’re in for continental delights, comforting classics, or simply a good meal with great company, this restaurant never disappoints. I left with a happy heart, a satisfied appetite, and every intention to return soon to explore more from their mouthwatering menu. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
