Walking into Souza Lobo after almost 6–7 years felt like stepping into a time capsule — back to the Calangute I remember from the early 2000s. The vibe is still the same — a beautiful mix of locals, foreigners, and a few Indian tourists, all soaking in that easygoing Goan beach energy and a bit of loud music from the shacks outside. It honestly felt so good to see that Souza Lobo still holds its soul. The restaurant hasn’t changed much — the charm, the sea breeze, the familiar buzz — but it’s lovely to see the next generation taking it forward. The daughter now runs the place and has beautifully revamped the menu while keeping the essence alive. Seafood remains the heart of Souza Lobo — and rightly so. There’s even proper parking now — plenty for two-wheelers right at the restaurant and a few four-wheelers too — something you rarely find around Calangute these days! The staff were their usual amazing selves — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. You can tell they take pride in what they do and always watching out for you. And the food… just wow. The beer-battered calamari was perfectly crisp, the fish fingers were spot-on, and the sausage pulao took me straight back to childhood Sundays home cooked food. Souza Lobo isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a piece of Goan history. To all the locals who’ve spent evenings here in the old days, do yourself a favour — go back, relive those memories, and support this iconic place that still carries the true Goan spirit in every plate served.
