Matsuri, located within The Chancery Pavilion, unfortunately felt like a promising concept that missed the mark. While the ambiance does a good job of evoking the charm of Japanese lanes, the food presentation and quality left much to be desired. The California Roll and Gyoza lacked the finesse and attention to detail one would expect—there was no proper garnishing, the plating felt careless, and the California Rolls were nearly falling apart. To make matters worse, the Gyoza was spoilt. Upon bringing this to the staff’s attention, the chef acknowledged the issue and the item was removed from our bill, which we appreciated. On a positive note, the staff were courteous and helpful throughout. The highlight of our meal was undoubtedly the Ebi Wasabi—perfectly cooked prawns with a creamy, slightly crunchy texture. The portion size was generous and the prawns were impressively fresh. Overall, apart from the standout Ebi Wasabi and good service, the rest of the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations, especially when compared to other options available. His cocktail-making skills are truly next level—each drink was a masterpiece, perfectly balanced and beautifully presented. He clearly knows his craft and takes great pride in delivering an unforgettable experience. What truly sets him apart is his passion for service. He goes above and beyond to ensure every guest has a fantastic time, making personalized recommendations and always serving with a smile.
