The Chinese cuisine is nice at Salt Water. Degust tasty prawns, fish and chicken this place offers. It's always a pleasure to rest and have a meal here because of the good service.
This place is also recently opened in the now happening junction of Hinjewadi and Wakad. Its a little difficult to stop here because everyone is trying to take the bridge or the highway. In fact we had a minor 'touch' encounter with a passing bike. Not a pleasant experience.
Seafood is the speciality of this eatery. Ambience is ok. There is a separate family area where we were seated. They have a few mini aquariums around which add to the ambience. Menu consists of lots of non sea food items for first 6-7 pages which makes one feel its not a seafood restaurant. If seafood is your speciality it should be mentioned first and foremost I feel.
Here is what we ordered -
1. Salt Water Special soup - Did not look like the picture. Tasted like any clear soup with seafood bits thrown in. Quantity was ok. Seafood can be a bit more.
2. Surmai Malabar Curry - We did not want to have anything spicy so this was recommended highly by the hotel staff. We also liked that it was coconut based. But were disppointed to find it very very spicy and not having much of that creamy coconut milk. It tasted of lots of masala. Quantity of gravy was huge. Enough for 3 people. But of course fish pieces were not that many. Just two I believe.
3. Appam and Rice - We ordered steamed rice and the hotel staff suggested we try appam which are a kind of dosa. Glad we did that. It was a welcome change. Do try it.
We were disappointed that there were no prawns. Cost was reasonable for a seafood restaurant. Service is good. The person did try his best to suggest menu items that we would like but I suppose he cant really know what we had in mind...
They served something they called liquid pan at the end. See the attached pic. It was good. Different from regular mouth freshener that is normally served.
i hav been to pune for official meeting... For the fist time went to this place... I ordered chickn fried rice.. no quality..no quantity.. bakwaas ambience...guys beware of this place!! Management should look into this matter... Dont even keep it as ur last option..
The very first time i ordered prawns from this restaurant. when i received it, the food was spoiled. I didn't want to make any complaint to the restaurant. The second time i ordered chicken gravy, butter naan. When i received the food, it was wasted to. So i decided to call the restaurant to get my money back but they refused to do so. They also gave a very vague and irresponsible response. They also hung up on me. When I asked for their supervisor, they said he's out of town. So typical!!!. This was the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
