An Unexpected and Chic Culinary Gem in Assagao Finding a restaurant like Sake in the sleepy, charming lanes of Assagao was a truly wonderful surprise of our trip to Goa. The interior lived up to the promise of the outside. The space is designed with a sophisticated flair, featuring a large, impressive bar as its centerpiece, with tables thoughtfully arranged around it and on an upper balcony. We were lucky enough to be seated in one of the private dining lounges to the side, which offered a more intimate setting for our group. The design is a masterful blend of Japanese-influenced minimalism and the high ceilings and airy feel characteristic of a colonial Goan villa. The result is a space that feels both elegant and tasteful. As beautiful as the decor was, the food managed to top it. We indulged in a fantastic selection that showcased the kitchen's range. The classic maki rolls and sashimi were impeccably fresh and delicious. But the menu also offers more varied, Asian-oriented tastes, and we were equally impressed by the snapper in black bean, the perfectly cooked katsu chicken, and the addictive chilli edamame. Every single dish was a hit with our group. What ties the whole experience together is the impeccable service. Our hostess, Renuka, was an absolute delight. She looked after our group of seven with grace and attentiveness, ensuring our evening was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. Sake was an accidental discovery that turned into a great evening. It's a perfect combination of stunning design, truly delicious food, and warm, professional service.
