If they persist, say with a kind smile, “I know you mean well. You seem like a person who cares about people.” Change the subject again. If they keep it up, tell them, “We each have to look after our own bodies. Neither of us can control how other people take care of their bodies. Let’s each manage our own diets.” Then, change the subject again. If they persist still, just ignore their comments as though they didn’t make them or leave if it’s convenient and you want to. Just say, “I need to go. Have a great night.” Then, go. You have to set a boundary, and you don’t have to get the other person to understand and agree to how much you’re eating. It’s none of their business unless you want it to be.
