PUNJABEE RASOI – NEAR ACROPOLIS MALL KOLKATA JUNE 19, 2026Punjabee Rasoi is one of our favourite go to place for food – lunch and dinner; for me, it’s the sheer pleasure of gorging on authentic Punjabee Food; for my wife, the added impetus – it’s an “alcohol-free” place.This time around, her cousins had arrived an what better way to spend the evening than to have our favourite food at Punjabee Rasoi.We don’t even look at the FORMAL MENU – we know what we like the best.The tantalizingly masala and onions spread papad was an enticing start, paired with he just right lime soda sugar salt combo. While the adda was on over these, we asked for our all time favourite – “adrak ke panje” – succulent chunks of lamb slow cooked on fire, sprinkled with herbs making it heavenly – we have always been wondering how the chef manages to bring to the table the exact replica of what we had the first time around, many moons ago. The KABULI NAAN (sweetish unleavened bread with a generous sprinkling of nuts) was in sync with the PANJE – forks and knives kept aside, all for of us savouring till the last morsel deep into the mouth.The AJWAINI Fish was not to be missed – so soft, buttery and full – it regaled itself in all its glory just as we were polishing off the Panje.That’s starters for you – makes you wonder if you need to order the mains anymore – but, lust and temptation got better of our senses – when you visualize the soft chicken smothered in a sea of spinach – Oh ho, your internals make sure that they can take more – Yeh Dil Mange….. The SAAG CHICKEN, again a signature of the chef, left no way for criticism – tender chicken, cooked just for licking off, and the greens – just from the fairyland.The cousins were so enamoured that one of them revisited to get the Adrak Ke Panje packed for her home in the Blighty.Anyday, one of the better eating joints in yown
