PIE - Pan India Eatery Baner Road, Pune#FoodTasting"Hello, is it me you’re looking for?"If you read the above line in the tune of the Lionel Richie song, then you shall find a very cute dog Roxy at the entrance of PIE, wagging her tail and asking the above question through her eyes. That is indeed a warm welcome into this interesting cute resto-bar on Baner road.#Location - PIE is located a few meters before Effingut Baner, near the Tea Villa cafe on the left side if you are going towards the Bangalore highway.#Parking - Two-wheelers can be parked inside the premises but just check the parking permit before you park your car on Baner road.As the name suggests, PIE - Pan India Eatery is a resto-bar that has food covering popular cuisines of our country.Once you enter this tall-looking, yellow-walled PIE, your attention will be drawn to the “chess” floor and most of all, to the interesting facts and trivia about food and drinks painted on the walls. We spent a lot of time photographing the walls and the floors and the interiors in general. And while we were creating photographic memories, the bartender had already presented us with 4 mock-tails on the table#Rosemary#FrenchKiss#VirginMojitoAnd while we were busy clicking photos of the drinks, came some delish food out from the kitchenStarters#LotusStemChaat - We have always had this one in Chinese style but PIE makes it the desi-way and what better would an option be than the popular chaat style!! Crispy, crunchy and chaat-y….this one is #HighlyRecommended#KumbhKeSholey - Tandoor-ed Mushrooms in a lovely spicy paste of onion, tomatoes and spices. I loved this dish. Light on the stomach, beautiful for your taste buds. #Recommended. Since the restaurant name is abbreviated as P.I.E., it was no surprise to me that there was “pie” on the menu. The pies come in Large and Small sizes. We were given three beautiful ’small’ pies to taste, as follows:#SouthIndianChickenPie - The pie crust is crunchy and the stuffing is deliciously cooked chicken in yellow gravy with curry leaves giving you that signature South Indian taste.#ButterChickenPie - Seriously amazing!! I loved it. This one is a #MustOrder#IndianPizzaPie - The typical pizza stuffing in the pie.#GreenThaiCurry - they got this one right! Aromatic, delicious and pairs perfectly with the white rice. We all loved it although some of us did find it a tad bit on the sweeter side. But the overall experience was indeed worth going for second servings. This one is a #MustOrder if you love Thai curry#ColeslawSandwich - The sandwiches served at PIE are huge. They are meal in itself. The coleslaw mixture has a nice crunch from the cabbage and is slightly sweeter from the mayonnaise. This wet coleslaw sandwiched in two supersoft bread slices tasted great but the downside was that the ‘liquid’ from the coleslaw was quickly absorbed by the bread and made it soggy rapidly. I suggested toasting the bread so that the sogginess effect would be delayed.#ChickenTikkaSandwich - Beautiful on the inside and outside. This one is a #winner all the way#PaneerAndCheeseSandwich (with Mustard dressing) - Somehow, I could not taste the mustard part in this sandwich. So I suggested that the mustard dressing should be more in quantity or intensity. Otherwise the sandwich would taste quite bland.#Dessert#FilterCoffeeKulfi - Beautifully presented and absolute yum!! If you love filter coffee and Kulfi, then this amalgamation is pure bliss for your taste buds #MustOrder #ChocolateMousse - Excellent is the word #MustOrderAlso #MyVerdict - Cosy place and very good food. Whether it is a friends meet-up or a family dinner, this is one place to go for a heart meal and basically eat something interesting and different from various parts of the country.Devesh is a fine host and heads a team of skilled chefs and servers. And of course, the sweetheart Roxy will be there to greet you with her puppy eyes and by the time you have read this, she has now given birth to 4 very cute pups, all well taken care of by the kind souls at PIE.Make your lunch or dinner plans already!!
