We managed to get a reservation for the 4:30 PM slot with 2 seats near the kitchen, but it wasn’t easy — it took me 3 weeks to finally book a table. They release slots every Monday at 8:00 PM, and they sell out within a minute, so you really have to be lightning-fast.With all that hype and effort, I was expecting something exceptional — unfortunately, the experience fell flat. The food was just average, and while it wasn’t bad, it definitely didn’t live up to the buzz. You can find similar flavors and better value at other Japanese cuisine places in the city.Overall, I’d rate the experience 2.5 out of 5. Worth trying once if you’re curious, but don’t go in expecting something extraordinary.

After months of trying to get a seat, I finally made it and Naru did not disappoint!I ordered: OG Tonkatsu Ramen, Chicken Karaage (Honey Wasabi), Chilli Cheese Crab Temaki and Not Bacon Kombucha. The ramen, though marked as least spicy, had a nice little kick—rich, comforting, and full of flavor. Chicken karaage came in piping hot and perfectly crunchy (burnt my mouth but worth it ). The crab temaki was a little messy to eat but packed a punch in taste. The only miss for me was the kombucha but that’s on me for trying to get adventurous.Definitely coming back. Just hope I don’t have to wait months again!

As someone who has chased ramen bowls across Atlanta, NYC, and San Francisco, I walked into Naru Noodle Bar with cautious optimism. But just one slurp of their tonkotsu ramen with pork chashu, and I knew — this place gets it. The broth was rich, cloudy, and unapologetically umami, simmered to perfection. The pork chashu was melt-in-the-mouth tender with just the right char, the kind that makes you close your eyes for a second too long. And those noodles? Firm, springy, alive — not the overcooked flour strands that many places serve in the name of ramen. The crab cake tamake was a standout — crisp on the outside, silky and flavorful inside. Steamed edamame dusted with shichimi togarashi made for the perfect warm-up bite, while the smoked salmon with Soy sauce and Orange ponzu sauce was subtle, clean, and elegant. And then — the cheesecake. That bouncy Japanese cheesecake deserves its own standing ovation. Light, airy, subtly sweet — almost like eating a fluffy cloud that knew how to bake. Every dish felt deliberate, balanced, and deeply respectful of the ingredients and the culture it comes from. In a city filled with "Pan-Asian" pretenders, Naru is a rare gem that doesn’t dilute Japanese cuisine for Instagram or chili-hungry palates. Let’s just say — after my last tragic excuse for Japanese food at Shiro, Naru felt like stepping out of a bad dream and into Tokyo station. This place is now my go-to for when I just want a damn good bowl of ramen. P.S. If you are a fan of pork broth, ask them if they would prepare other ramen like Miso ramen with a pork broth.
