I recently visited Mintelaa at Gorky Sadan for breakfast, and while the location has potential, the experience fell short in several areas: 1. Service: Unfortunately, there was no dedicated staff attending to our table. We had to keep calling someone over, which disrupted the flow of the morning. For a place that promotes a laid-back vibe, the lack of basic service really stood out. 2. Hookah Quality: The hookah smoke was quite underwhelming. It lacked the density and richness expected from a lounge-style setup. For hookah lovers, this would be a definite letdown. 3. Ambience & Comfort: The ambience took a major hit due to the non-functional air conditioning. In a city like Kolkata, especially in the morning heat, this can make the entire experience uncomfortable. Overall, Mintelaa might work for a quick hangout if you’re not particular about comfort or service, but it definitely needs improvements in management and maintenance to live up to its promise. Mintelaa, Gorky Sadan – Breakfast or Bootcamp? Dropped by Mintelaa for what I hoped would be a relaxed breakfast with some hookah and decent vibes. What I got felt more like a test of patience and heat tolerance. • Staff? AWOL. There’s “laid-back service” and then there’s no service. We sat there wondering if we had to press a secret buzzer or maybe do a little dance to summon someone. Spoiler: nothing worked. • Hookah That Ghosted Us Ordered a hookah, but the smoke was so light it could’ve qualified as a disappearing act. At one point, I questioned if it was even turned on or just there for decoration. • Ambience Featuring a Broken AC! Nothing adds to a breakfast like a hot, sticky room with zero ventilation. The AC was non-functional, and I swear even the hookah coal felt cooler than the air around us. Final thoughts? If you’re into imaginary hookahs, invisible staff, and a complimentary heatstroke, Mintelaa delivers 10/10. But if you’re looking for comfort, service, or any kind of working system—maybe just grab a chai from the nearest stall and save yourself the drama.
