Hidden away in Sarai Julena, right opposite The Surya Hotel, is Malabar Restaurant — one of the few spots in the area repping authentic Kerala food. We rolled in around 9 pm for dinner and went all in: Buff Roast, flaky Malabar Porottas, a spicy tuna fry, and their signature Malabar Chicken Biryani. The buff roast was — rich, spicy, and full of flavor. Paired with those soft, fluffy porottas that literally melt in your mouth, it was a match made in heaven. The tuna fry, loaded with onions and green chillies, wasn’t exactly my thing but still had that bold, coastal punch. The biryani? Cooked with short-grain jeerakashala rice, super aromatic, and the masala was on point — though I wish the chicken had soaked up a bit more of that magic. The vibe is clean, simple, and no-fuss — perfect for when you’re craving a legit Kerala food experience without overthinking it. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in South Delhi.
