Extremely Disappointing Experience – Discrimination at Its WorstI had a truly unpleasant experience at Mainland China, SB Road today. I had gone there for the buffet around 1 PM plenty of time before closing and was shockingly denied a table for no valid reason. What was even more disheartening was the attitude of the staff. I had just come from a temple, dressed in traditional attire, and the moment I walked in, the person at the counter gave me a dismissive look and immediately said they “couldn’t accommodate” me. Moments later, I watched as others who arrived after me were promptly given tables.It was humiliating and completely ruined my day. If this is how they treat guests based on appearance or attire, it’s truly shameful. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this kind of behavior deserves to be called out. Basic decency and respect for customers seem to be missing here.Kudos to the hypocrisy — denying one guest while welcoming others minutes later. Really pathetic service and attitude.

I went to Mainland China for their special Lunch Buffet We started with comforting Vegetable Manchow Soup and crispy Chicken Wontons that packed the perfect crunch. The dimsums — especially the Corn & Water Chestnut and Chicken Basil Dumplings — were light, flavorful, and beautifully crafted. The Kowloon Spinach Wrap and Fish Spicy Butter Garlic stood out among appetizers — fresh, aromatic, and full of punchy flavours. For mains, General Tso’s Chicken and Prawns in Sichuan Chilli Sauce were clear winners — rich, spicy, and beautifully balanced. The Wok Tossed Hakka Noodles and Burnt Garlic Fried Rice paired perfectly, bringing that smoky, umami kick. And of course, no Mainland China experience is complete without dessert — from Chocolate Mousse to Honey Noodles with Almond Flakes, each bite was indulgent yet comforting. Verdict: A must-visit for anyone who loves bold Asian flavours, elegant presentation, and a hearty buffet experience that delivers both taste and variety.
