As someone from Kerala, I had high hopes when I ordered the fish meals (including Surmai), expecting authentic flavors and freshness. Unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. The fish was not fresh at all, which completely ruined the meal. Every dish was bland and lacked basic seasoning — salt was missing in almost every curry. The only item I found somewhat decent was the aviyal, but the rest were tasteless and poorly prepared. Given the high price, I expected much better quality and flavor. Sadly, it felt like a waste of money and totally ruined my day. As a South Indian at Mumbai I am pretty disappointed by Kerala cafe. Saw some good reviews and went there expecting good south food but it was bad. We had ordered Chicken ghee roast, Mappas curry along with Parrotas. 1. The Ghee roast was not ghee roast it was just chicken pieces put in tomato thokku (added picture for reference) had to verify with the waiter if it was actually ghee roast he confirmed it was. It tasted very bad had full tomato flavours. In my life i have never had ghee roast with tomatoes. And it was not roasted as well this was more like made in a pan semi dry tomato dish with chickens. 2. Mappas was okish, It tasted like curry was made separately and boiled chicken was added in later. Lacked authentic flavours. Probably the worst South Indian restaurant u have had food at that too it’s Named Kerala cafe pretty ironic. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₹400–600 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
