Overpriced & Overhyped – A Luxury Price Tag on Mediocre Products I’ve given Janki Bakery more than one chance, but after my latest experience, I can safely say this is the last time I’m visiting. Yes, the ambience looks polished – large showrooms, fancy displays, and an attempt to create a “luxury bakery” feel. But scratch beneath the surface, and the cracks start showing very quickly. •Ras Malai Cake (₹400 for 400gms): What should have been a fusion delight was nothing more than a bland vanilla sponge disguised as innovation. Almost no ras malai flavor, just cream and sponge at a price that screams “premium” but tastes “budget.” •Pastries & Tarts: Equally disappointing. They carry the kind of price tags you’d expect from top-tier patisseries, but the execution is below par. To make things worse, my last walnut tart came with a very unappetizing surprise — a strand of hair baked into it. That was the final red flag on hygiene. •Service: For such a large setup, they have surprisingly few waiters. You’ll find yourself waiting far too long just to be noticed, which kills whatever “luxury experience” they’re trying to project. At the end of the day, this feels like a traditional bakery trying too hard to wear luxury clothes without actually improving where it matters — quality, hygiene, and service. Big shops and flashy branding can only take you so far. In the long run, if they don’t fix these basics, they won’t survive the brand war against genuine premium bakeries. For me, the decision is clear: never going back.
