I had an extremely painful and offensive experience at Tourist Hotel Udupi, Nandyal (AP).
Before ordering, I clearly informed the owner, manager, serving staff and repeatedly asked at least 10 times that I DO NOT eat onion or garlic. I have strictly followed this vow for the past 25 years, as my food is first offered to Lord Krishna with Tulasi before eating. This is not a preference, it is a sacred spiritual vow.
Despite repeatedly assuring me that the white chutney did NOT contain onion or garlic, they lied to my face and served garlic chutney. Later, when I questioned again, the cook and assistant cook themselves admitted that the chutney contains garlic. This clearly shows that the owner, manager and serving staff deliberately lied and cheated.
Because of their dishonesty, my 25-year strict spiritual vow was broken. This is not something that can be taken lightly. I felt deeply hurt, offended, mentally disturbed and depressed. No one has the right to play with someone’s faith, devotion and spiritual discipline.
This hotel has no respect for religious sentiments, no honesty, and no accountability. Instead of apologising sincerely, they behaved casually, as if this is a small issue. For a devotee, this is a serious spiritual violation.
I strongly DO NOT recommend this hotel to Vaishnavas, devotees, Brahmins, Jain people, or anyone who follows a strict no onion–no garlic diet. Please be very careful — their words cannot be trusted.
This experience has left a deep scar on my heart. I will never visit this place again and I urge others to avoid it if you value your faith and principles.
