Good hotel for non-veg items. And fish lovers also get food here. Hotel Matheran ... More than 100 kilometres away from Matheran mountain with no sight of any hill or elevated landscape is this hotel. Popular among locals it has earned its reputation over the years and it's not a surprise that when we (me and 2 of my friends) visited it on a Sunday afternoon (24 Jan 21) there were at least 100 other diners already there. For us, the whole idea was to take a look at the rural kitchen and successfully run restaurant in the middle of literally nowhere ... Indeed there was a lot for us to see ... Food was average but the seating arrangements were quite amusing. Under the tree and on chatai. And people seemed to have a great time there. Totally enchanted. (Beer with fish !) But we sat indoors. Service was above average. Food wasn't warm. I ordered veg thali worth 200 rupees. It included the below ... - masavadi - brinjal bharwan - bhakri - panchat kheer - shengdana chutney - red chutney of garlic - kothimbir wadi and - adu wadi. Quite a widespread menu. My friends went in for Chilapi fish. (150 per plate) They found it to be good. I think it's the taste of the spices that makes it good.
