Hotel Ashok, Pollachi is a legendary old-school restaurant that has been around for years. It’s very much a mess-type setup, so don’t expect ambience or a pleasant dining atmosphere. The place is small, crowded, and the ambience is poor. Hygiene standards are also below average if you’re someone who expects a neat and clean dining area. That said, the food is the real reason people still come here. The biryani is a must-try, especially when paired with extra rice. The chicken fry is good, flavourful, and well done. Prices are nominal, which makes it value for money purely from a food perspective. However, the service is very bad. When it’s crowded, there is no one to guide you to a table. You are forced to stand awkwardly near people who are already eating, just waiting to grab the next vacant seat. A proper waiting or token system would have made things much more transparent and comfortable. Standing next to dining customers for a place is honestly very uncomfortable. The waiter attitude doesn’t help either. It feels like “wait till I bring your food, or leave the table if you can’t wait,” which is not customer-friendly at all. Overall, the food tastes good and prices are reasonable, but the service is terrible and the ambience and hygiene are poor. Visit this place only if you are coming for the food, especially the biryani. If you value service, comfort, or cleanliness, this place will disappoint.
