Had the Sunday brunch at Harajuku Tokyo Cafe and absolutely loved the experience. Since there were four of us, we ended up trying almost everything on the brunch menu, from the spicy avocado cream cheese bites and dynamite mushrooms to the kara miso ramen, katsu curry rice bowl, and yaki udon mazemen, and every dish was genuinely impressive. The flavours felt authentic, comforting, and very well balanced, without feeling overly commercialised. The brunch concept itself was so much fun, with the menu designed like different “levels” and “power-up bites,” which perfectly matched the playful Tokyo-gaming vibe of the restaurant. The cocktails and mocktails were excellent too, especially the Tokyo Blue and Peach Iced Tea. A special mention to our server, Jayesh, whose service was impeccable throughout the meal. He kept checking in on our table, made sure we were comfortable, and really added a warm, attentive touch to the entire experience. The team also surprised us with adorable Mother’s Day cupcakes at the end of the meal, which made the brunch feel even more thoughtful and memorable. What I enjoyed most was how immersive the entire experience felt. Between the neon-lit interiors, Japanese-inspired decor, manga-style elements, and the food, it genuinely felt like a little slice of Tokyo in the heart of Mumbai at Jio World Drive. The restaurant does get quite lively and bustling during brunch hours, so noise levels can be slightly high, but apart from that, the service, ambience, drinks, and overall dining experience were all fantastic. Definitely one of the more memorable Japanese cuisine experiences I’ve had in Mumbai.
