My friends and I had gone on an impromptu trip to Mundgod, with an appetite for Momos. We left from Davangere around 12 noon and reached The Happiness Restaurant around 3pm, for a late lunch. The Restaurant does give a Tibetan vibe and the menu offers authentic Tibetan cuisine. Being a novice at this, the waiter was more than happy to help us with the dishes. He spoke a little bit of english, but was fluent in Hindi. Maybe we were a little late when got there, but most of the dishes were unavailable. So we tried Steamed Momos, Spring Rolls and Thukpa (Noodle Soup). The Spring Rolls and the Momos were excellent, and they provided us with an exquisite dip (I forgot to ask what it was). The Thukpa is dish of its own. It's a little bland (you could spice it up at the table with all the sauces and the dip), but it's one all-rounder. It's a mixture of meat, vegetables and noodles. You would realise how healthy it is as you eat it and the taste grows on you. As far as the quantity goes, it is adequate. But the Thukpa, was more than filling for a hungry college guy. I had trouble finishing it and once I was done, I had trouble moving around. So I would suggest sharing the Thukpa. The meal was proper value for money. It did not leave a hole in out pockets. If you're travelling to Mundgod, and you're craving for some Tibetan food, The Happiness Restaurant is the place to go!
