Veg Jhol Momos - Rs.110/- Halka Ramailo Cafe, 2nd Mile, 101 Area, Shillong Chinese, Biryanis, Rolls, Burgers $ 29.06.24 Today is a Saturday & I don't have to be in the hospital till noon. So I left an hour early & proceeded towards 101 Area in 2nd Mile. Luckily I did not meet with any traffic. A few days ago I noticed a cafe by the name @halka_ramailo_cafe & I decided to have breakfast there today. I found the place inside a lane which I have always seen but never been to till today. I parked the car & entered inside this simple but cute little cafe with speakers blaring with Garo Pop songs. I was planning to try their parathas as I had already seen on their Google Map listing but sadly the menu had changed. I was not yet ready for anything heavy so I decided on Momos. Jhol Momos. The staff informed that chicken was still being procured from the market so the only ones available were veg. I agreed to try them out. 10 minutes later my order arrived. It came with 7 pcs of momos in a bowl filled with a red color light jhol with a small bowl of chilli chutney. I was expecting a thicker orange color jhol. Anyway I started eating & the momos had a slightly thicker covering & the jhol was pretty spicy. I didn't dare add any more chilli chutney to the dish. The jhol was so spicy that I couldn't get the taste of the veg filing inside. There was also some masala sprinkled on top as well. I also didn't get the taste of the sesame nuttiness that you usually find in Jhol momos. If I didn't know already what dish it was, I would have said it was a Schezwan gravy Momo. Anyway I wished the chicken ones were available. These were not bad but I'm sure they would have been so much better with chicken.
