Hot & Sour Chicken Soup -Rs.45/- Grilled Chicken Sandwich -Rs.65/- Seekh Kebab (Half) -Rs.130/- Snacks & Grill Corner, Nongrim Hills (opp. NEC), Shillong Tea & Snacks $ 25.01.24 Today was a very cold gloomy & depressing day but I still made my way to Snacks & Grill Corner which is located opposite to NEC campus. The eatery is in the compound of an old Assam type house with outdoor seating & what looked like an open fireplace. It had those shacks in Goa vibes, minus the sun & the beach. There was no one there, not even the people working in this place. Perhaps the weather outside was too unbearable to bear. After calling out for about 10 mins, I dialled the number on the signboard & in just 2 rings an elderly gentleman with a good command of the English language appeared. I took a look at the menu & everything was priced so reasonably well. Perhaps they focus mainly on students. However at present, schools & colleges are still closed. I ordered a Hot & Sour Chicken soup to warm me up & a Grilled Chicken Sandwich & half a plate of Seekh Kebab to fill me up. My order took about 15mins to prepare. First came the soup. It was a packaged soup with tiny pieces of chicken. It wasn't the best but atleast it did help to keep me warm. Next was the sandwich which was grilled along with chicken, veggies & mayo. It was pretty decent. Then came the 2 pieces of seekh kebab which were fried till the outer layer was very crispy. They seemed to also be packaged products as well but they were tasty especially with the chaat masala onions & mint chutney. And for these prices, I didn't seem to mind at all. Afterall thanks to such places that I did not die of starvation during my college days. Ours is a humble effort to provide decent food at reasonable rates especially for the students who have come from all over the NE to pursue their education. We sincerely appreciate and value your review and suggestions. It is important for us that our valued customers tell us about their experience at our place good or bad so that we can iron out the wrinkles and provide a smoother experience to other customers and to them if they consider us worthy of a re-visit.
