Dream a Dozen — or should we call it “Dream and Forget”? I trusted Dream a Dozen with my daughter’s first birthday cake, a truly once-in-a-lifetime moment. The order was placed well in advance, and fully paid for. On the big day, after hours of anxious waiting, when we followed up, their WhatsApp representative casually chuckled and said, “The cake isn’t ready, we missed baking it.” When we inquired if any other cake can be delivered, pat came the dry reply- "We are busy with Diwali gifting, no other cake is there in our kitchen". There was no empathy, no apology, just a dry, matter of fact communication! In the end, I had to scramble to order a cake through an e-commerce app, thankfully, someone delivered what Dream a Dozen couldn’t: an actual cake. I tried to follow up, hoping for a conversation with the young owner — whose business we had loyally supported for years (since 2020). I wrote to her directly on LinkedIn- The owner? Radio Silent. The team on WhatsApp? A symphony of excuses, no urgency, no acknowledgment of the missed memory. Just a casual approach as if nothing happened in the first place! A brand that once symbolized beautiful cupcakes and happy memories now seems more interested in corporate Diwali gifting and quick cash. It’s sad when your oldest, most loyal customers feel like this. Perhaps it’s time to pause, reflect, and remember why you started. I wonder — if you treat your old, loyal clients like this, what hope do new customers have?

Got a fire station themed cake recently. Given the challenges of colour usage, no fondant, no tall cakes, this came out flawless and tasty! Edible printing, non messy, very little cream and yumm! :)
