It is located around the main bus stand road at Stuart Hill. They can be contacted on 94496 99864. Their timings are from 12 to 4 30 pm and then at 7 to 9 30 pm.
Parking is wherever you can manage to find a spot. Our group of 15 went there at about 2 30 pm. But only got a table at around 4 pm. No jokes! The place was packed. We were given a token number and asked to come back after an hour. But the expected wait was so worth it.
Subbaiah Thimaya called us 10 minutes prior to getting our table so we could give in the food order. By now we were starved and listed almost everything in the menu. the main course quantity is good for 2 people a plate. So order accordingly. I would suggest you order everything needed at once since they are limited with their staff. This is what we tried.
PORK:
· Pandhi Curry (intense robust rustic meat).
· Pandhi Barthadh (dry fry). Chunky pieces marinated in local spices.
· Pandhi Malukootunadh (spicy chilly). 5 star for me. While I write this review I am still drooling.
· Coorg Cuisine special (bamboo shoot curry with pork). This dish was very unique. But bamboo is an acquired taste. So only order of you are sure.
Chicken:
· Kodavu Koli curry (coconut based spicy gravy) very average. Infact i thought the curry was a bit watery. Can skip it.
Mutton:
· Kori Yerchi curry (mutton curry)
· Kori Yerchi Barthadh (mutton fry)
Vegetarian:
· Baimbale Barthadh (tender bamboo shoot fry)
· Bele Curry (dal fry)
We had the above with delicious ghee rice, neer dosas and chapattis (wheat roti).
Their menu also has fish and egg curries if you are not a meat lover.
For dessert, we ordered the Beetroot halwa. It was absolutely divine. Glazed with a lot of ghee and roasted nuts and dry fruits. A 5 star for this.
We also tried their litchi pudding. Sooooo good!
They also sell 2 kinds of pickles. The pork pickle priced at 425 and the bamboo at 250. Both in 500 ml bottles.
Over all a place that truly has lip smacking food with pocket friendly prices. I have attached the menu. The interiors are very basic and simple but the flavours and aroma of each dish is what makes Coorg Cuisine a must visit when in Madikeri. Nothing short of a gastronomical rollercoaster ride!
