I recently visited Chikanna Tiffin Room. On Sundays, the place gets extremely crowded, and since the space is quite small, it feels very congested. You constantly have to adjust yourself to the limited seating and movement. I tried the Dosa, Ghee Masala Dosa, Chitranna, Palav, Kesari, and Vada — all of which were tasty. The pricing is reasonable as well. However, the main drawback is the delayed service. You need to keep an eye out for your order, especially the dosas, as they can easily be served to someone else by mistake. Overall, it was a decent experience. The crowd and congestion are the major downsides, but given that it’s an old Bangalore-style eatery, you have to be a bit accommodating. That said, the food quality makes it worth a visit — definitely something you can try at least once. Chikkanna Tiffin Room (CTR) is a small yet charming eatery with a neat, clean, and well-maintained ambience, making it a comfortable spot for a quick meal. Started off with the Idly-Vada combo, which was impressive — the idly was soft and spongy, and the chutney was perfectly balanced, complementing the dish well. The lemon rice was equally delightful, with all the ingredients blended to perfection. The rice bath also tasted great, pairing wonderfully with the chutney. However, the mini masala dosa felt a bit overwhelming due to the excess ghee, making it difficult to finish. The same experience repeated with the mini bath masala dosa — again, a bit too heavy on the ghee for my liking. I also wanted to try the puliogare, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available at that time. Apart from the dosa, everything else was thoroughly enjoyable. The quality of food, cleanliness, and service make CTR a great spot for tiffin lovers. Definitely worth trying if you're in the area!
