I took my family there for lunch during our Thanjavur trip. Like I saw in blogs, the food was tasty and classic Tamil food. We chose the A/C restaurant and that’s where they serve dishes from mud pots like buffet but they serve it for you. It’s a must visit place. If you have time please ask to see the oil cold press with bulls driving the cold press in the back of the restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Good tasty very typical tamil food, homemade style. The menu and the ordering is a bit fluid, but best don't overthink it. Just go with what they suggest or recommend. There are some extras or optionals that they offer mid meal, use your discretion and preferences. All the dishes are well made, clean and very tasty. Honest food at honest prices. Good service and friendly staff. Recommended if you are familiar with tamil food or adventurous to try it. If you are of the sort of person who is picky, finicky better you avoid. Just to address some of the concerns in the other reviews here:. It could be be that they probably don't do a good job of the communicating the menu or the ordering options, very lucidly, and there doesn't seem to be a printed menu with the prices that can be read and understood leisurely at the table, but rest assured this place is not "out to get you" or cheat you. We went to Chellammals Manpaanai Samayal for lunch. A veg place but nice and a different concept. They keep all items on bowls. You can take as many as you want and also ask more of any item. This includes even curd. They charge by the number of empty bowls. 25 per bowl. The rice one is bigger, so 50. You can get both white and red rice. Healthy food. Tastes like home. Simple and light on the stomach. For 3 of us, we consumed 21 bowls of gravy and side dishes, and a bowl of rice. The bill was 575, a real value for money. We are not big eaters. I specifically like the fact that all employees are ladies. Besides the concept helps avoids good wastage. Hope it helps in uplifting their life. There were flies that must be controlled. Else, a few may go uncomfortable. Not overly crowded, maybe, due to non holiday season and weekday. I like the simplicity of the restaurant decor that did not compromise the cleanliness, which is an issue commonly seen with such places. Kudos overall! Recommend you to try.
