A great property means little when it's paired with unwelcoming staff and poor service. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what I experienced at The Cape Goa. Despite the beautiful location and scenic view, the staff’s attitude left a lasting — and deeply negative — impression. I had called ahead to ask about availability for a table and was told to "just walk in." Upon arrival, I found half the space packed, while the other half — completely empty — was off-limits because it was designated as a smoking area. No one was smoking, yet I was denied seating there simply because I had children with me. There was no flexibility or understanding from the staff, despite our clear discomfort and the fact that my kids were hungry. After much back and forth, we were reluctantly offered a table, but by then, the tone had been set. I chose to leave — not because of the food, but because the experience lacked the very thing we seek when dining out: a sense of welcome and peace of mind. It’s unfortunate that The Cape Goa seems to rely solely on its footfall and location, neglecting the most important aspect of hospitality — service. No matter how stunning a place may look, it’s the people and how they treat guests that define the experience. I ended up visiting Zayo next door — a smaller, cozier spot with attentive hosts and great food. That’s where I’ll be returning. It’s not about scale; it’s about how you make your guests feel. The Cape Goa, you need to reflect seriously on your service standards — because no view can save a place that forgets how to treat people. Service: 1

Dear Chinmai, Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your visit to The Cape Goa did not meet your expectations. We’d like to offer some context regarding the situation. When you arrived, our regular dining area was indeed full, but a table was available in the lounge section. However, we do not seat children in the lounge, as it is a designated smoking area. While there may not have been anyone smoking at that particular moment, it is an open space where guests are permitted to smoke, and someone could have chosen to do so at any time. For the safety and comfort of children, we consistently follow this policy and have previously declined similar requests from other families. We understand that this may have been disappointing, especially given the circumstances, but our team was simply following a rule designed to protect our younger guests. We always aim to be respectful and transparent in such situations and regret that it came across as unwelcoming. We appreciate your feedback, and while we’re saddened to have missed the chance to serve you better, we do hope you’ll consider visiting us again in the future. Warm regards, Mark The Cape Goa
