This place is a solid 9/10, not just a 4/5! The food is absolutely fire, and the service was top-notch. My only complaint? The parking had a bit of a slope, and the prices might make your wallet weep a little. Still, if your pockets are deep enough, I’d highly recommend it! Great experience. Had the beef birria taco, beef brisket and smoked chicken. The taco was probably one of the best thing I've ever eaten in the roll/wrap section.. juicy and bursting with flavour. The smoked chicken had a balanced flavour and the meat was soft and could easily be picked apart with a fork. The brisket was tender and juicy. Try at least once!

I’ve visited Big Poppa’s Bistro more than three times and made it a point to try different items from the menu one by one. The food is definitely on the expensive side, but I think that’s because they’re offering a style of food that’s quite different from what most of us are used to. Some dishes introduced me to completely new flavors and experiences, while others were just decent. The standout item for me has been their smoked meats and burgers. You can tell they are trying to bring authentic BBQ and smoked food culture to the area, which is not something you find everywhere. However, there was one dish that was a complete disappointment for me: the tacos. It was honestly one of the worst food experiences I’ve had there. The taste was so unusual that we couldn’t even tell whether it was prepared incorrectly or whether that’s how the dish is supposed to taste. Since none of us had much experience with tacos before, we asked the staff for guidance, but unfortunately they couldn’t really explain the flavor profile or what we should expect. We ended up leaving most of it uneaten. That brings me to the biggest strength—and also a small weakness—of the restaurant. The staff are fantastic. The ladies working there are polite, positive, welcoming, and genuinely try to help customers. Their attitude is one of the reasons I keep coming back. But I noticed a gap: many of them don’t seem familiar with the actual taste and experience of the dishes they are selling. During one visit, I asked for recommendations based on what they personally enjoyed eating, and none of them had actually tried the food themselves. My suggestion to the owners: your employees are your brand ambassadors and partners. Give them opportunities to taste the menu items. When staff understand the flavors, ingredients, and experience firsthand, they can confidently guide customers, especially when introducing foods that are new to the local audience. That would significantly improve the dining experience. Overall, Big Poppa’s Bistro is a unique place that’s trying something different, and I appreciate that. While there are a few items that may not suit everyone’s taste, the friendly atmosphere, dedicated staff, and specialty smoked dishes make it worth visiting. Just be prepared for premium pricing and don’t be afraid to ask questions about what you’re ordering.
