Aamar Kolkata is a welcome cozy nook at the north end of municipal Kolkata. On Seven Tanks Road, popular as 'ponchash foot'. It is easy to reach from Dumdum metro station and via Shyambazar, by bus or taxi. Though they have chosen to call it a cafe, it's a decent small restaurant to dine in, particularly at night. Their prize item is fish. They serve excellent quality Kolkata Vetki - fresh, succulent and well cooked. The variety among kebabs, fish-n-chips and a few Indian menu is well curated. Their another favourite is luchi - mangsho, an ethereal Bengali pet dish. Then there are chicken, prawn and vegetarian spread. The decor inside is minimalist, sober. The music is comfortable. The service could be better if only they deploy a third hand. I absolutely loved my ajwani fish tikka kebab. The grilled fish was fairly decent. The time spent was just too good. I'll go back next time for the remaining fish items. Go. In a group of 2-8, you'll remember your evening. The dishes were flavourful, fresh and beautifully presented. I especially loved the polau and chicken butter masala combo.. It was perfect. The portion sizes were generous and satisfying..
