Happened to stop by 1854 Coffee Collective on our way back to Bangalore from Somwarpet. The Filter Coffee was really nice! They grind their own coffee beans and don't use chicory. And more than anything the staff were absolutely amazing, unfortunately I can't remember their names. They were very knowledgable and friendly, they took a fair amount time in explaining to us the various kinds of coffee beans and drinks, they basically gave me an education on coffee. We visited a week or so after the owner of the establishment had passed away which was very sad. It was heartening to see how the staff held him in high regard and the passion with which they worked. This is one of the best restaurant between Hinakal in Mysore to Kankanady in Mangalore. The place is so nostalgic. The tiled roof, cozy interiors, great ambience inside and out. greenery all around and what is more! friendly staff, and their food is so good especially their grilled sandwich and chocolate ice cream. The conveinance shoppe attached to the restaurant has some of the best spices grown in Kodagu, the turmeric, pepper, Coffee powder and cardamom. Never I had better experience. Its owner Narendra Hebbar's personal touch is seen in every service and corners of the restaurant.
